Main Divide is the local name for the Southern Alps, which form the backbone of the South Island and a dramatic backdrop to the Waipara Valley, North Canterbury. The winery works closely with some of the best growers in the valley, whose vineyards have been selected for their quality and ability to express the unique regional characters.
This Pinot was picked over three weeks to give a complex array of red and dark fruit flavours. Traditional Bergundian winemaking was followed by 18 months maturation in French barrels, producing a full-bodied wine showing the typical Waipara Valley characters of cherry chocolate and spice. Whilst great drinking on release, it will develop extra complexity with a few years bottle age.
