The Kay Family has been synonymous with the McLaren Vale region for over 125 years. In 1890 Herbert and Frederick Kay purchased the Amery property and give years later produced their first vintage. The borthers enjoyed a remarkably long partenrship until Fred's death in 1947. When Herbert died the following year, the transition to the next generation in the form of Cuthbert 'Cud' Day was complete. Today the family continues the winemaking tradition in the heritage listed stone cellars.
The Kay Brothers traditional winemaking embraces hand plunging, basket pressing and maturation in oak barrels for 13 months.
