Still family owned and operated, this small Coonawarra vineyard has been evolving over the past 40+ years and now involves daughter, Emma who has taken on the winemaking role whilst father Doug is looking after the viticultural side of things. The Estate consists of 33 hectares of vines planted on the prized Coonawarra Terra Rosa soils. Established in 1972, the first vintage in 1975 was greeted with considerable enthusiasm.
Matured for 18 months in French oak barriques. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Pronounced ripe red to black currant and mulberry aromas mix with some red liquorice, cedary tobacco characters, light earth and bay leaf notes. Medium to full in body, elegance yet still boldly flavoured with red to black currant and mulberry fruits dominant over a cedary tobacco, subtle stalky earth and bay leaf back drop. Polished tannins finishing with good freshness and a long savoury aftertaste.
