Tom Ward has taken fruit from his newly leased vineyard in Orange. The #006, or 'Tempinot' as Tom calls it, was born of some experiments with blending. It's a twist on the delightful Shiraz/ Pinot blends of the old Hunter Valley. This wine combines the spice and structure of Tempranillo, with the softness and vibrancy of Pinot Noir. An unusual blend, but one that works surprisingly well. It has the hedonistic hit of fruitcake and dark chocolate, though freshness and fruit are the themes with Pinot the bedfellow.
