Winemaker Michel Chapoutier is the seventh generation family member to lead Maison Chapoutier, first established in France in 1808. In 1997, with a natural curiosity and an eye for innovation, he first purchased and planted vineyards in Australia.Challenged to create great Shiraz, true to its unique terroir yet reminiscent of its French origins. Michel's Victorian vineyards were carefully selected for their superior aspects and the characteristics that their soils impart to the ultimate wine. Mathilda Chapoutier Shiraz is named after both an Australian icon and Michel Chapoutier's daughter Mathilde.
