Genders Keith Shiraz Grenache
"Now it's a rich, smoky, surly stew of a thing, a welling wallow of blackberry, mulberry, dried fig and prune with a prickly aniseed/fennel edge. It's syrupy of texture, and almost seductive, but then the reinforcements arrive: the acid and tannin footsoldiers rock in to warn you that this is not gonna be a walkover." - Drinkster
"Following a tradition of both sides of my family, back to the 1850's, I have grown the grapes and hand made this Shiraz at my family winery in the heart of McLaren Vale, South Australia. The winery was founded by my parents Keith and Rosemary Genders, in 1967, and was the first new winery south of Adelaide in 50 years, leading the way for so many other families to follow.
This wine is to honour Keith, who owned the vineyard for sixty five years form the ages of twenty to eighty five, passing away in February 2013. True to Keith's legacy, the maturation of the Keith has been lengthy prior to release and follows a time honoured McLaren Vale tradition with the inclusion of Grenache. The Keith will benefit from breathing and will age gracefully for many years. Cheers Dad!
